About KOGS 2017

The 3rd Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference ran under the patronage of Kuwait's Prime Minister, with the support of the Ministry of Oil and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). UBM AEM organised the exhibition and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) ran the conference. The conference opened on 15 October 2017 and the exhibition ran from 16 to 18 October at the Kuwait International Fair in Mishref.

The organiser's brochures described Kuwait's plan to raise oil output by almost 50% over four years, to 4 million barrels per day.

What Zain did

Zain ran the pavilion from the first meeting at the Ministry of Petroleum to the last day of the show. The 12 companies were EGPC, EGAS, Ganope, ENPPI, Petrojet, MIDOR, Egypt Gas, Town Gas, Gascool, ETHYDCO, Egyptian Maintenance Company and AMOC.

  • 8 May 2017: met the Ministry of Petroleum's First Undersecretary and the AEM marketing manager. The meeting agreed on a high-level delegation and a front-row pavilion.
  • Ran five planning meetings at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). They fixed the line-up at 12 companies, each paying an equal share of the cost.
  • Negotiated the price with the organisers and booked the pavilion, with the lead EGPC stand (6461) in the front row of Hall 6.
  • Handled visas, hotels and daily airport–hotel–venue transport for the delegation.
  • Worked with the organiser's sales manager each day on the pavilion's presentation, and arranged business meetings between Egyptian, Arab and foreign companies.

Results

  • The organiser's show report names two national groups at KOGS 2017: France and Egypt.
  • The same report lists EGPC among the “international powerhouses”, next to BP, Shell, Total and Halliburton.
  • AEM's executive director called the Egyptian participation “unprecedented”.
  • Kuwait's Minister of Oil visited the Egyptian pavilion.
  • Show totals (organiser): 6,129 attendees from 60 countries, up 17%, and 184 exhibitors from 24 countries on 14,000 m².

Recommendations to the sector

Zain's post-show report to the Egyptian petroleum sector closed with three recommendations:

  • Egyptian companies should register on KPC's vendor list.
  • The sector should join GEO 2018 in Bahrain at the same level.
  • The sector should exhibit in Uganda, Angola, Mozambique and the Nile Basin countries.
