Arab Youth Development conference (AYD 2016)
The International Conference & Exhibition for Arab Youth Development & HAND Initiative (AYD) ran for three days at the Fairmont Heliopolis in Cairo. Zain Exhibitions co-organised it with Strengths, a training, development and event-management company from Abu Dhabi. Its theme was “Coaching, Development, Entrepreneurship, Opportunities, Challenges”.

Why AYD
The brochure set out two aims: help young Arabs find jobs, start small businesses and build careers, and “open up opportunities for foreign investment” in Egypt. The 2016 edition focused on change management, and on leading and training people through change.
The organisers built the programme for training directors and managers, HR departments, educators and trainers, vocational training centres and postgraduate students. The brochure also offered B2B meetings with business delegations and decision-makers, and a look at local, regional and global entrepreneurship opportunities for young people over the following five years.
Programme
Instructors from Harvard and Cambridge joined experts from Egypt and the UAE. Topics included:
- Arab youth challenges
- The Presidential HAND initiative
- SMEs and career development
- Change management and vocational training
- How to identify a job opportunity
- Knowledge, learning and skills acquisition
What Zain did
The brochure names both companies under “Organized by”: Strengths, from its Abu Dhabi office, and Zain Exhibitions, from its Nasr City office in Cairo. Each logo sits beside its national flag, the UAE's and Egypt's. The stage screen and the interview backdrop at the event carried the Zain Exhibitions logo.
Attendees received a certificate of attendance. Photos from the event show the opening screen, speakers at the podium, round-table discussions with national flags and TV interviews in front of the AYD backdrop.
